Pets Don't Understand They've Grown Larger - 2008-04-07 17:55:36
<<< Previous - Warcraft Windchimes | Next - Sully Balloo is Dead at the Thandol Span, Foggy MacKreel has Moonshine to Deliver >>>I remember the days when he was just a tiny
little pig... Of course even though you can make him understand that he needs to sit in his own chair he's still somehow able to root around under the floor. Luckily the landlord didn't notice the damage.
It reminds me of large dogs that don't understand that they are no longer tiny puppies and attempt to lumber into your lap in order to be cuddled. Cute, but no, no, you're way too big!
Yes, I know he's just a bunch of pixels, but I can't help anthropomorphizing my pets. Just one of the reasons I'll never be able to give up the pig or the
flamingo.
Speaking of the flamingo - here's a comparison of the pink tallstrider when tamed at level 9, next to one that's level 62.
Yes, they get much, much larger than when first tamed!
Update:
And since I just randomly decided to post that old image of my boar pet, I immediately felt the need to go read hunter blogs and so I checked
Mania's blog and discovered:
Hortus Says Growl + Charge Aggro is a Bug
Terrible news for boar owners! In all the investigation over pet aggro in Patch 2.4, it was determined that the great extra-aggro effect of boar’s Charge ability followed by a Growl is a bug and will be removed in a future patch.
Here is Hortus on the WoW Bug report forum:
I have confirmed with the developers that Boar’s growl ability getting such a large bonus to attack power based on charge is a bug. Growl should only benefit from the hunter’s attack power and get no benefit from buffs to the pet’s attack power.
Expect this to be changed in a future patch. If you disagree with this change please post about it in the suggestions or class forums.

Note that the thread Hortus posted in is locked, but I do believe we should follow his suggestion and post our thoughts on this in the Suggestions and Hunter forms.
Potential silver lining: perhaps fixing this bug will help prompt them to look at threat generation across all pet families.
Since I'm always learning things from Mania's blog and the comments there I'll have to keep checking that particular entry to see if there's any more news.
But even if my boar is nerfed, I'll still have to keep him. He's 66 and I tamed him at level 26. Since my character was in her 40s then it was a long and painful leveling up. We've been through much, piggy and I - and even if he's no longer a good tank, I still love him.
*runs off to hug her pet!*
Yes, I'm silly, we all knew this, right?
