Thanks to
BRK (Big Red Kitty) I discovered the
Pet Emote addon a while back, and fell in love with having my hunter pet make all these random emotes about their hunger and contentment. (My favorite is having the type of pet that is set to "gnarl uproariously.") Not to mention being able to type /pet and then an emote and have someone then read
Ossuaria's Visera wonders if it would be polite to devour the gnome standing in front of him...
Of course it's much funnier when you can see that Viscera is a large pink flamingo.
And it's even more humorous to see your pet hiccup when you're the one drinking:
So I first learned about the addon in
this BRK post - and then immediately went to
download PetEmote at Curse Gaming. And now BRK has topped himself and gone one better - he's showing us
how to add our own text into the addon. Apparently this information was always available to those who'd scroll down and read the comments on that download page - but BRK posted screenshots and made it more clear - and more importantly pointed it out. I admit, I never scrolled down and read all the comments on that addon page. I just rushed to try the darn thing as soon as I'd gotten it into the right folder.
So now...now I'm still pondering what to add for the flamingo. So much to decide - for the contented version, unhappy version, and so on. I may eventually come up with ideas, but I'm having some trouble finding flamingo related emotes in my brain. For some reason whenever I have a specific emote I want to use it's always about nibbling on nearby gnomes. Perhaps it's just that I like to pester gnomes. Even though I'm alliance, that just seems like a good pastime.
In any case, I'll update once I've tinkered with this addon.
Update, 08.06.08
Thanks to
Mania's post here I learned - there's an updated version!
Here's an
FAQ about using Pet Emote.
And here's a
tutorial about coding custom emotes. I'm still working on mine - I'm new to lua coding.
